420Mobile Broadband Experience to get better with Windows 7

posted on March 2nd, 2009

With the mobile broadband technology becoming popular across the world, there seems to be a big need for an OS that supports this technology in a more effective manner. Microsoft, it seems has caught up with the technology and will be incorporating support for embedded mobile broadband in its new operating system Windows 7.

It has not been long since Vista was launched and it is yet to replace Windows XP from most of the PCs. However, technology is moving at a breakneck speed and realizing this Microsoft has already planned for a Windows 7 release by the end of this year or early next year.

In its blog, Microsoft lists down the names of the high profile companies that are acting as partners for Windows 7 development. These include Acer, Asus, T-mobile, and some other big names, especially from the mobile industry. The company claims that Windows 7 will offer a more reliable way of connecting to the broadband internet via the wireless modem.

At the Mobile World Congress that just ended in Barcelona, Asus showcased its latest 3.5G-equipped Eee PC. The displayed PC was running on Windows 7 with 3.5G mobile broadband enabled through Huawei’s EM770 embedded module, which happens to be the first module of its kind created for Windows 7.

As always, customers may have to wait for the general release of the operating system. Microsoft’s OS releases are usually delayed, and you can expect the same to happen to Windows 7 as well.
