679Detox with a Brown Rice Diet
posted on December 15th, 2009
A simple brown rice detox is one of the easiest forms of body cleansing for many people because it furnishes essential nourishment, detoxes the body gently (thus provoking little or no detox side effects) and doesn’t demand the experience of starvation as a juice detox can.
When you follow the brown rice diet, you only eat brown rice for one week. You won’t suffer the challenge of being hungry or getting jitters or dizziness. You can flavor your rice with miso or Bragg’s Amino Acids, similar to soy sauce but much better since it simply contains natural sodium. A tablespoon of miso with ginger and garlic will provide variety to your brown rice diet. Other seasoning herbs are also suitable, however, don’t go overboard. For a little metabolic lift, add a pinch of cayenne pepper. You can also use a little pure maple syrup or brown rice syrup for a slightly sweet dish. Only do this once a day, if at all.
In order to maintain good blood sugar levels, eat 5 or 6 small portions of brown rice each day. For convenience, you can cook one or two day’s worth of brown rice at one time. Here’s how to cook brown rice.
Be sure to drink three to four quarts of water throughout the day. Include herbal teas as well. Peppermint is a wonderful detoxifying tea, red clover will support detoxification and a laxative tea at bedtime will help keep your colon moving.
